CB1969 ~ the Story
CB1969 accessory and houseware collections reflect the experimental design approach of Carineh Babayan, a Canadian Armenian artist who possesses a natural tendency to re-think the conventional.
After graduating in 1995 from OCAD and much travel, Carineh began designing and fabricating a line of handmade lamps and furniture pieces that met with unexpected popularity.
Always needing to produce and innovate, Carineh's recent artwork uses ribbon as a medium. This new found discipline has led to the introduction of the CB1969 collection of neckties for men and women.
CB1969 ~ White Label Ties
“A well-tied tie is the first serious step in life.” Oscar Wilde
Carineh's love affair with ties is the result of nostalgic reactions and imprints: her dad's ties; school uniforms; travel; textiles; the Sex Pistols; the Cure; Annie Hall; the Rat Pack; Chanel; Reservoir Dogs; Abbey Road and summers in Italy.
CB1969 White Label neckties are hand-pleated or beaded, then carefully hand-sewn. Each original design is produced in Toronto in limited edition.
Art and fashion intertwined.
